His Words
Was having a rough go feeling any sort of faithful last week. This is what I read this weekend while mindlessly surfing.
May I keep the attitude of these three guys from the
book of Daniel. They chose to serve God regardless of God's action in the
moment. They knew God was good regardless of circumstances.
"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O
Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown
into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will
rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But
even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we
will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” (Daniel
3, emphasis mine.)
As soon as the violin strings wake me I’m mentally
running the race: dishes, laundry, schooling, lessons, potty training, attitude
training, (mine? Or theirs?) hair cuts, toy sorting, building projects, writing
projects, holiday projects, orders to fill, appointments to get to and dinner
to have on the table by six. Whew. Where is the time for
contemplating thankfulness in that?
"In EVERYTHING give thanks."
The time, is now, in the midst of it all.
"In EVERYTHING give thanks."
The time, is now, in the midst of it all.

From
the song “You’re Faithful Forever” by Michael Omartian (going through my head)
You're
faithful forever, though it's hard to believe when I'm cold and lonely,
You're faithful forever, and you're teaching me now
how to stand on my own.
I don't know how you love me now, when every chance
I've had I've fought you,
Yet, when I need a tender touch, you patient
loving-kindness shines through,
I can see I must be the reason for the rain in my
heart,
It's a fight, but I'm alright 'cause...
You're faithful forever, though I feel like a child,
forsaken in danger,
You're faithful forever, and you're teaching me now
how to stand on my own,
You’re faithful forever

· From 2 Chronicles 20:21-22
“And when he had consulted with the
people, he appointed those who should sing
to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out
before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures
forever.” Now when they began to
sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab,
and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the
people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to
utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants
of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.”
